New Adventures - Without Dogs

Well, if you are reading this, you already know that Mozi has passed away. It’s been a long, hard 6 months so far. I don’t need to say anything more than that, do I?

I’m nearly finished with my 90 Day Lens Challenge, which I’ve been posting over on Instagram. My posts, purposely, are only about my challenge because I wanted that to my my sole focus. I also wanted to share than journey and hold myself accountable for getting it done. Because some days it was nearly impossible to get out of bed. Knowing I had to create an image got me moving. It wasn’t always pretty, but the work got done….every day.

Now, that the challenge is nearly over, I’m looking to the immediate future….maybe the next year or so. I don’t know if or when I’ll be able to go back to photographing dogs, but the challenge has shown me that I have more interests and new things to learn. Out of that lesson came two new ideas:

  1. The Shutterbug Post Card Club - This is SO fun for me because I am learning landscape and wildlife photography. My focus (no pun intended) is to create images that feature the beauty of the Pacific Northwest’s wildness. (Not wilderness…the wildness…the landscapes, the wildlife, the ocean, the sky…you know, those things that can’t be tamed.) While I am creating images, I will also be filming myself to create “Behind the Scenes” videos. (Stay with me, there is a method to my madness, I promise). I intend to go out into the wild at least once a week to create images. From those images, I will pick ONE to feature on a postcard. The image I choose will NOT be shared, posted or printed anywhere! This image will be the featured image for The Shutterbug Postcard Club for the following month. I can hear you asking me “what’s the catch?”

  • You have to be a member on my Patreon Page for $5/month. You can opt out at any time.

  • Your membership will include the exclusive postcard that will be mailed directly to your mailbox. The postcard will include a blank envelope, in case you want to send it or share it with someone special.

  • Those “Behind The Scene” videos I was talking about? They will be posted on the Patreon page. (I mean, some may end of on Instagram to help spark interest for the postcard club, if I’m being honest.)

  • Private chats and discussions are also included on the Patreon page, because I don’t check DM’s on Instgram.

2. I’m now selling prints of my work!

  • Prints are available on the website here.

  • Prints are subject to change as I get better at “wild photography”.

  • Prints are not framed so that you can create a unique piece of art that fits your style.

  • All prints are numbered and signed.

  • There are only 25 of each print available and once they are sold out, they will not be offered again.

  • Keep checking for new prints to be added to the store.

  • If you prefer to use Etsy, I also have a store front over there.

  • Also, if you see a print, but would like it in a bigger size, just contact me.

So, there you have it. I don’t know what the future holds for me as a “wild photographer” or if I’ll ever go back to working with dogs. This remains to be seen. But, I do have to make my way in this world, pay my bills and be a responsible human, so this is what I’m doing.

I appreciate the patience most of my friends and family have shown me as I adjust to life without Mozi. I’ve lost a few friends along the way, and that’s ok. People come and go in life all of the time.

I hope you’ll join me on my “wild photography” adventures.

And, as always, if you have questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Love,

Holly
